Robert was born April 15, 1951, in Millersburg, to the late James Eugene and Madeline Butler. He served his country as a Marine and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, and working with animals. Robert and his son, Rodney, raised deer together. He was a mechanic and welder all his life. Robert was a loving husband and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, playing games and teaching them to hunt and fish.
Surviving are his loving wife, Danna Butler, whom he married Oct. 16, 1980; children, Robert W. (Tracey) Butler of Loudonville, Rodney E. (Patty) Butler of Glenmont, James D. Butler of Wooster, Thomas F. Butler of Killbuck, Kyle J. (Tina) Patterson of Nashport, and Marcella J. (Richard) Patterson of Millersburg; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brother, Mike Butler of Holmesville; many nieces and nephews; and a great friend, John Bruce of Shreve.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly King; and brother, Kenneth Butler.
Private services will be at a later date. Friends may call Feb. 16, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
