Donald was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Wellford County, W.Va., to the late Coye Gay and Valley Ann Phillips. He retired after working 30 years for Flxible, and then worked at the Holmes County Senior Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Surviving are children, Toni D. (Russell) Daniel of Norton, Penny M. (Ronnie) Hamilton of Killbuck, Donald P. Phillips of Akron, and Kitty R. (Richard) Williams of Barberton; eight grandchildren, Autumn (Matt) Fair, Cheyenne Hamilton, Colt (Amy) Phillips, Ryan Landon, Meghann Hamilton, Tabi Hamilton, Brandi Phillips, and Kallie Phillips; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl E. Phillips, Paul R. Phillips, Joe H. Phillips, Toy May Gooding, Janet Ann Patterson, John H. Phillips, Ella Joyce Njegovan, and Charles T. Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Phillips; second wife, Kathy Phillips; sisters, Virginia L. Moyers and Ellie Gay Phillips; and brother, Otto L. Phillips.
A time of remembrance will be held Feb. 26, from 3-5 p.m., at the Millersburg American Legion.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral home, Millersburg.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ohio Veterans Memorial Park, 8005 Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Clinton 44216.
