Levi Kuhns

Levi M. Kuhns, 90, of North Lawrence, died March 6, 2011, at the home of his son in Paris, following a period of declining health.

Levi was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Plain City, to the late Monroe and Fannie Kuhns. He was a retired farmer, carpenter, and painter and was an avid organic gardener and deer hunter. He enjoyed softball and played into his 70s.

Surviving are children, Mary Wade of Broadview Heights, Freeman (Debra) Kuhns of Paris, Elsie (Greg) Swick of North Lawrence, Dennis (Elizabeth) Kuhns of East Palestine, David (Earlyn) Kuhns of North Lawrence, and Mae (Eric Hernquist) Kuhns of Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susie (Boyd) Rodgers of Columbus, and Ida Troyer and Katie Kratofil, both of Middlefield; brothers, Melvin (Anna) Kuhns of Millersburg and Freeman (Martha) Kuhns of Middlefield; and sister-in-law, Ella Kuhns of Maysville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara E. Kuhns, whom he married Dec. 25, 1947; a granddaughter; sister, Amanda Yutzy; brothers, Joseph, Jacob, Albert, and Monroe Kuhns; and son-in-law, James Austin.

Services will be held March 8, at 11 a.m., at Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, with John Miller and Chris Moen officiating. Burial will be in Raber Cemetery, Wayne Township, Tuscarawas County. Friends may call March 7, from 5-8 p.m., at Spidell Funeral Home, Mt. Eaton, or one hour prior to services at the church.
