Well above pace as February turns to March

All right, two months into WalK and I'm still at it!

That point alone may have shocked my wife as much as it would had I presented her a diamond ring on Feb. 17 — for no reason whatsoever.

But here I am, still plugging away, still logging an average of 3.6 miles per day, still banging away on the treadmill, still lugging around too much weight, but feeling better about it and still bent on making this 1,000 mile trek happen.

January and February have come and gone, and so too have 211.8 miles. At this rate I will reach close to 1,300 miles, which is well beyond what I ever dreamed possible.

I owe much of my success so far to my wife, who has joined me, keeps me honest and has been über-encouraging.

While I have put just over 200 miles behind me, she has blown me away, logging 300 miles in two months. What a trooper!

To put it in perspective, I have now walked enough miles that I would be in Statesville, Va. Somewhere down I-77, my wife is treading away, as she nears Charlotte, N.C.

That's OK, though, because I am not in some kind of race, but rather a marathon that pits me against the miles, not her. Although, you'd think she would wait up for me, wouldn't you?

Song list No. 2

I have had so many people talk to me about my first list of songs I listen to while walking, that I am providing a second one.

So here, without further adieu, is my next Top 20 list.

1. His Life for Mine - The Talley Trio
2. Philadelphia Freedom - Sir Elton John
3. Let's Dance - David Bowie
4. Thunderstruck - AC/DC
5. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Lepard
6. I Would Walk (500 Miles) - The Proclaimers
7. Birdhouse In Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
8. Jungle Love - Morris Day & The Time
9. Mr. Blue Sky - ELO
10. Don't Bring Me Down - ELO
11. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - The Righteous Brothers
12. She Loves You - The Beatles
13. I Want You to Want Me - Cheap Trick
14. Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
15. Cecilia - Simon and Garfunkel
16. Don't Bring Me Down - ELO
17, Crucified With Christ - Phillips, Craig & Dean
18. Your Grace Still Amazes Me - Phillips, Craig & Dean
19. Soak Up the Sun - Sheryl Crow
20. Naturally - Huey Lewis & The News

His Life for Mine is an incredibly powerful song. Nobody in this world sounds like AC/DC's Brian Johnson. If this kind of list keeps up, you will be seeing a lot of ELO - the greatest band ever! Elton John is simply one of the five greatest voices in the last two millenniums (along with Tony Bennett, Annie Lennox, Freddie Mercury of Queen and George Michaels). Also, it is impossible to not walk to the beat of 500 Miles. Regardless of how hard you try.
