The Webers attended the Amish Country Home and Garden Show, held recently in Dalton. When they arrived before the show opened, they decided to check out local furniture stores.
The retired couple stopped at Homestead Furniture in Mt. Hope, and they saw a couch they liked. But with time ticking, they headed back to the home and garden show without making a purchase.
While walking around the show, they came upon the Homestead Furniture display. The couple registered for a $250 gift card from Homestead Furniture, and continued on their way.
Louise Weber later decided that she wanted the couch she had seen. So she and her husband of 45 years drove back to Mt. Hope to buy it. While working with the sales representative, Amanda Shetler, they inquired about the winner of the gift card.
Shetler said that she had, in fact, drawn the winner that morning. With curiosity getting the better of them, Louise Weber inquired as to who had won it.
The sales representative said it was someone from Alliance.
“Well, we’re from Alliance,” Louise Weber said. “What was their name?”
Shetler answered, “Weber.”
“That’s our last name,” Louise Weber replied. “What was the first name?”
When told “Elmer,” the couple couldn’t believe it, and neither could the clerk.
The Webers purchased the couch, but ironically, they did not use their newfound prize.
“I want to buy some furniture for the living room next year,” Louise Weber explained. “I’ll use it then.”
Homestead Furniture is located at 8233 SR 241, Mt. Hope.
