Born August 29, 1957, in Toledo, John was the son of the late Dorothy and Hermann D. Aubry. He grew up in Toledo, spent his middle years in Columbus, and what would be his last years in Millersburg. He was an alumnus of Mary Immaculate School for Exceptional Children, Toledo, and graduated from Sylvania High School. As his mother had predicted when he was born, he was her comfort in old age. John was often credited with writing letters to R. David Thomas with the request that he build a Wendy’s restaurant in Millersburg. When that restaurant was eventually built, John was honored to be one of the dignitaries who cut the opening ribbon, and was proud to work there until his death.
John was beloved by members of the Millersburg Business Community, with whom he visited daily and for whom he was always running errands. They remember him fondly as “the one who liked to help people.” He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Millersburg, where his only brother, Fr. Ronald J. Aubry, is pastor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 16, at 10 a.m., at St. Peter Church, Millersburg, with Rev. Jerome D. Stluka officiating. Burial will be in Fostoria. Calling hours will be March 15, from 5-8 p.m.
Family requests memorial gifts be given to the Aubry Family Endowment Fund for St. Peter Parish.
