Big Prairie woman pleads to possession of chemicals to make meth

A Big Prairie woman said Wednesday, March 16, in Holmes County Common Pleas Court, that she was living in the same car that had components of meth production and waste stored in the trunk.

Jamie Palmer, 32, last known address 4643 Township Road 222, pleaded March 16 to charges of attempted illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. She faces up to 30 months in prison on the charges.

The charges stem from Jan. 25, when Palmer was stopped for a traffic violation while driving through Millersburg. According to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Chris Oehl, a K-9 search of the car turned up two bags of so-called ‘meth trash,’ the after components of a meth cook, in the trunk. Some of the components used to make meth were also found in the trunk, including lithium batteries and cold pills.

The K-9 search further yielded a bag containing meth under the driver’s seat.

Palmer, speaking before Judge Robert D. Rinfret, said she was homeless and living in the car, a Chrysler Sebring. Palmer said the car also contained several bags of her children’s clothes and “most of my personal possessions.”

The Chrysler has been stored at the Holmes County Sheriff’s impound lot since her arrest.

Rinfret ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for May 19.
