Roy was born March 25, 1936, in Holmes County, to the late Henry N. and Katie Ann Yoder. He was a retired sawyer and member of the Lake Erie and Ontario Sawyers and Filers Association, a member of Berlin Mennonite Church, and enjoyed woodworking and playing the harmonica.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene Yoder, whom he married Dec. 20, 1997; children, Marie (Willis) Beachy of Beach City, Wanda (Merle) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Merlin (Brenda) Yoder and Julia (Larry) Troyer, both of Dundee, Joe (Becky) Yoder of Dalton, David (Becky) Yoder of Wilmot, Joanna (Brian) Stutzman of Fresno, Jonathan (Jon) Valerie Yoder of Roanoke, Ill., and Dallas (Bonita) Yoder of Sugarcreek; stepchildren, Tamara Fyock of Claysville, Jacquelyn Parish of Yellville, Ark., Robert (Anna) Rorick of Spotsylvania, Va., and Victoria (Delmas) Garber of Loveland, Colo.; 22 grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty (Nelson) Yutzy and Niva (Henry) Hershberger, both of Millersburg, Biena Yoder and Anna Mae Yoder, both of Walnut Creek, and Orin (Mattie) Yoder of Dundee.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jemima Yoder, whom he married Dec. 1, 1955; and brother, Roman Yoder.
Services were held March 18, at Berlin Mennonite Church, with Pastor Ernie Hershberger officiating. Burial was in the Maranatha Fellowship Church Cemetery, Sugarcreek.
