This movie, created by filmmaker Janae Hagen and Wooster resident Carolyn Robinson, documents the struggle of North Dakota rural towns with dramatic declining populations, becoming ghost towns until an oil boom dramatically transformed the people, environment, and economy. The film reveals the cultural effects of rapid growth from farm communities to boom towns with the influx of temporary workers.
A facilitated discussion will follow the film, offering viewers the chance to reflect on the issues raised and to consider the implications for rural communities around the country.
The entrance fee for the film will be the viewer’s choice of a healthy snack to share with other participants (please provide a recipe) or a donation that will be used to help defray the costs and support future film nights.
