There will be plenty of top-quality merchandise hitting the auction block, with doors opening at 5 p.m. at Gospel Haven Church.
The school, which is also Gospel Haven Church, is home to around 65 students. It conducts its auction in order to provide funds for the general operating expenses incurred annually.
According to Jerry Troyer, who is one of several members organizing the event, the auction income not only helps keep tuition costs down, but it is also a wonderful outreach for the church as well.
“Our goal is to provide an environment that promotes Biblical values and character,” said Troyer. “We have a nice balance of academics and athletics, and provide a good chance for kids to get a lot of attention in the classroom. This auction goes a long way in meeting the needs of our everyday operations.”
The auction kicks off at 10 a.m., and generally operates until around 1:30 p.m.
In between that time, some fairly impressive donated items come up for bidding.
“We’ve got a really nice variety of new and almost new items this year,” said Troyer. “And 100 percent of what we raise goes directly back into the school. We worked hard to get as much variety as possible, so there would be a little something for everyone.”
The extensive list of items ranges from the smallest knickknacks to some high end items, where bidders can walk away with good deals on quality merchandise. Included will be a large vinyl swing set, a two-year-old Paint filly, a four-foot by six-foot chicken coop, a 26-foot Terry Resort camper, a 6-foot by 12-foot trailer with ramps, lifetime tables, lawn tools, firewood, antiques, veal and hamburger packages, bicycles, a hunting blind, 60-inch Hustler zero-turn mower, a 10-foot by 16-foot Gable style storage barn, poly Adirondack outdoor chair and table set, a 32-foot by 48-foot garage package, which will include footer, block foundation, framed construction, vinyl siding, steel roof, concrete floor, spouting, garage door, three-foot stone front, three windows, one door, and it will be assembled on the buyers’ property. In the past, buildings such as these that have gone to auction have been a huge bargain, so this could be a perfect opportunity to get a deal for those in the market for a new garage.
Aside from the great buying opportunities, there will be plenty of food available, including barbecued chicken, homemade ice cream, kettle corn, a large bake sale and more. There will be plenty of attractions and games for the kids, or there is always a game of ball brewing on the field beside the school, so bring the whole family.
The 10th annual auction provides a chance to pick up some great deals while helping out the students of Gospel Haven. The auction will be presented by Joseph Mast and John Kline of Real Estate Showcase.
Gospel Haven Academy is a nondenominational school providing a Christ-centered education for children in grades kindergarten through 12. Gospel Haven is located five miles north of Millersburg on SR 241 on the south side of Benton.
