Dr. John A. Vaccariello (R, back row) gave a presentation to the Variegated Clovers 4-H Club on the health risks of malaria. He stated that malaria is a life-threatening parasitic disease transmitted by mosquitoes and that one million people die each year from the disease. Every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria. The simple use of mosquito netting can help prevent mosquito bites and save lives. The Variegated Clovers will be donating money to a medical group toward the purchase of netting, which will be sent to Kenya and Tanzania, Africa.
