Local treats for Father’s Day at Local Roots

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19, and since they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, treat Dad to locally-grown favorites:

-Start the day with fresh pancakes made with local grains, Hartzler’s milk, and farm fresh eggs. Pick up some Ohio maple syrup, or try something a little different: fresh berries paired with one of Simple Products’ berry syrups. And don’t forget to pour Dad a big mug of hot coffee from one of our local roasters. (You’ll even find mugs at Local Roots, thanks to our artisan members!)

-If Dad likes something more substantial for breakfast, how about an omelet? Pair eggs with any of the fresh locally-grown greens and herbs now available in the market, top with cheese, and serve it up with bacon, pork sausage, beef sausage, or even lamb sausage (all available in the Local Roots freezers).

-If Dad’s a grill-loving guy, you can please his palate with any of the Tea Hills chicken patties, hamburgers from assorted producers, all-natural hot dogs from The Shepherd’s Market, or even beef or lamb cubes for kabobs. Don’t forget fresh bread or buns, and check out the new corn tortilla chips from Shagbark Seed and Mill.

With good local food, it’s not hard to make Dad feel appreciated on Father’s Day!
