Skyview Ranch is constantly revamping programs and opportunities to make camp life more accessible and embracing. This year Skyview began a new venture with their summer day camp program, which was offered only one week last year, but is being offered all summer long this year, June 13-August 5.

Erin Monday, day camp program director, is excited about being able to extend the day camp program to cover most of the summer. She believes the summer day camp program will give area children a great opportunity and a weeklong chance for some great memories.

“Camping experiences can be awesome times for kids,” Monday said. “This is the second year that Skyview has offered day camp; we did offer it last year but only for one week. We are really excited this year because it is the first summer that we are offering this day camp every week, all summer.”

The day camp program is a great event and offers a full week of fun for children entering first, second and third grade. The day camp runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., which makes it very convenient for working parents. Children from Holmes County and surrounding communities are welcome to register for any week of summer day camp by contacting Skyview at 330-674-7511.

“A week of day camp at Skyview Ranch includes several activities packed with adventure, learning, and fun,” Monday shared. “Pony rides, creek walks, crafts, and swimming are just a few of the activities that are available for campers. Of course that’s not all. There is also a thrilling field trip to visit Walnut Creek Farm as well. The week will conclude with a shaving cream fight to top things off.”

According to Monday, Skyview decided to do a day camp program in an attempt to serve Christ, the church, and the community.

“The day camp program allows for us to better serve the community by making camp programs available for younger ages as many of our programs are for the older grades,” she added.

Although the number one rule at Skyview Ranch is to have fun, camp is about more than having fun. Each day the campers interact with Bible Man as he challenges another character to give his life to Christ. Through exciting skits and messages that examine God’s word, campers learn about God’s love and power as well as what it means to give their lives to Him.

Parents may be wondering exactly what a week of summer day camp can offer their child for the cost involved. Monday said kids will be “incredibly” active and learn more about creation and God’s love.

“Kids are going to be able to be incredibly active, as we have 175 acres for them to explore and discover God’s creation,” she said. “They will learn about creation while participating in activities such as creeking or swimming. Also, since the program is offered throughout the area, kids will be able to meet other kids their own age and even ones who attend their school. They will also participate in games that will build their team building skills with their peers, but the most important aspect is their spiritual growth.”

Camp is always a great experience for kids and one that can continue into adulthood as well. If you are interested in more information about Skyview’s summer day camp, contact their office at 330-674-7511 or visit their website at http://www.skyviewranch.org.
