Walnut Hills Retirement Community is sponsoring an Art is Ageless Contest and Exhibit in Walnut Creek August 26-27. The contest is open to amateur artists aged 55 or older who are residents of Holmes County.

Artists may submit up to three entries, and there is no entry fee. All art must have been completed when the artist was age 55 or older. The art categories are: paintings and drawings; photography; needlework, quilting, weaving (“soft” crafts); sculpture, ceramics, woodworking (“hard” crafts); and miscellaneous (i.e. jewelry, wreaths, stamping, scrapbooking, and other crafts).

Awards will be presented in each category, and there will be an award for Best of Show and People’s Choice. Winning entries will also be featured in a 2012 Walnut Hills Art is Ageless wall calendar.

“We know there are many gifted seniors in Holmes County, and we want to give them an opportunity to display their talents,” said Paula Miller, community relations coordinator. “It is our way of honoring the creativity and imagination of seniors in our community.”

Entry forms must be submitted by Friday, August 12. The entry forms are available at Walnut Hills Retirement Community, located on Olde Pump Street in Walnut Creek, or can be printed directly from the News and Events page of the Walnut Hills website at http://www.walnuthillsliving.com.
