A number of new artists are attending this year, some local and others from outside the area. The event takes place throughout the village grounds as artists are located in tents as well as porches of the businesses on the grounds.
Each artist will showcase their art and you can watch them as they paint and create in a variety of styles and types of art. From oils and watercolors to framed photographs and pencil sketches you will find lots of talent. There will be simple classes for beginners throughout the day for a small fee, which includes all the materials needed. A great opportunity for beginners or children who have an interest in art.
Some of the artists who will be in attendance are:
Local artists Jane Hochstetler, of Berlin, and Robert VanNatta, from Walnut Creek, who both specialize in watercolor.
Elmer Yoder, an employee at Berlin Leather at Schrock’s Amish Farm Village, does both watercolor and acrylics, as well as some pencil sketching. He enjoys working on canvas, wood or slate and does custom framing.
Alma Hershberger, also from the village, paints scenery on slate, glass jugs, and saws while Marlene Mullet, of Millersburg, works with graphite pencil doing mostly wildlife drawings.
Nancy Simmons, of Columbus, will show copper enameling and gourd art and color-blind artist Ed Kossick, who uses bright/bold colors and describes his work as “peculiar,” is a reformed cartoonist in love with the 1950s. His work combines these two things for interesting artwork.
James Garcia, of Washington, Pa., works primarily in abstract local nostalgic paintings. Garcia will also be showing original art from several Columbus artists including Sarah Stroehman, Malissa Goff and Adam Sherry.
Various other artists will round out a full day of art for a variety of tastes. For a complete list of artists and more detailed information, go to http://www.Amish FarmVillage.com.
Holmes County Bluegrass will be singing at the train depot stage from 4-6 p.m. for those who just want to sit and relax to some local favorites.
