The West Holmes High School girls emerged victorious; the boys fell to the opponent. But in the end, West Holmes came out winners in both of the alumni soccer games held at the high school field on Friday, July 29. The annual alumni games are always fun, with plenty of hoots and howls of fans spurring on their elderly counterparts in the game, as some of the very best from past years returned to take on the current teams.
“We were facing some pretty good competition,” said Nic Fioritto, whose current club fell 7-3 to a group of alumni which featured a half dozen current collegiate talents. “It’s a nice way to get our season up and running, and it’s fun to have the old guys back together.”
The Lady Knights fared much better against their alumni counterparts, winning 4-1 to even the score.
