Tomatoes, peppers, hot peppers, onions, and other fresh vegetables are filling the shelves at Local Roots this month, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time for salsa!

On Saturday, August 27, Martha Gaffney of Martha’s Farm in Ashland will be on hand to make and share some of her favorite South American salsa recipes with her homegrown produce. Stop by during the market day to taste the fresh flavors of salsa and to pick up recipes.

At 3 p.m., the market will host a Salsa Dance. Local dance instructor Susan English will provide the lessons to this easy and fun dance. No partner and no previous experience is required; just come prepared to enjoy the dance, the music, and the camaraderie.

At 5 p.m., Local Roots will host a potluck in the meeting room. Those attending are invited to bring a dish featuring local foods to share, along with their own table settings. (Additional plates and flatware will be available.) Drinks will be provided.

Come and mix it up on Salsa Day at Local Roots!
