Roberta Houston

Roberta Eloise Houston, of Ragersville, died August 28, 2011, surrounded by her family.

Roberta was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Sharon, Pa., to the late LaRue and Blanche Bird. She was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School and Canton Actual Business College. Roberta and her husband, Howard, farmed in Massillon, Navarre, and for the last 40 years had a dairy and beef farm in the Ragersville Valley. They also owned and operated the Houston Jewelry Store, Massillon, for almost 60 years and were longtime members of New Pointe Community Church.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Houston, whom she married May 28, 1948; sons, Duran (Judi) Houston of Newcomerstown and Mark (Betty Jean) Houston of Ragersville; daughter, Sharon (Tim) Boyd of Ragersville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorthea “Ruth” Buckey.

Services will be held Sept. 1, at 11 a.m., at New Pointe Community Church, Dover, with Rev. Dwight Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Massillon, where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m.
