Mary Burgett had a program from Mayo Clinic entitled Beyond Meat and Potatoes. The item told about soluble and non-soluble fiber. Fiber lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, increases the LDL cholesterol, absorbs sugar, lowers chances for diabetes and makes you feel full sooner, which helps lose weight. Fiber is found in whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Popcorn is a good source of heart healthy whole grain. Good fats are found in olive oil, fatty fish and canola oil.
Next week is fruit and vegetable night. Bring three items. Leo Tope will have the program. The club meets on Wednesdays, with weigh-in at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting at 5:45. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 330-763-1347 or 330-378-2438 or 330-378-2723.
