TOPSOH 1573 welcomed Stacy Bair at the August 24 meeting. Each one told her what helped them lose weight.

The group met August 31, with 11 reciting the TOPS and KOPS Pledges. The club had an 8.2 weight loss. Stacy Bair was the best weekly and monthly loser. She said not to eat late at night and to park further away from destinations for more exercise. Eileen Lowe was the best weekly and monthly re-dedicated loser. She said to eat vegetables. Lana Rush was the best weekly KOPS. She said to work harder at becoming KOPS. Tom Alexander was the best monthly KOPS.

Leo Tope gave a program from the June TOPS Magazine entitled Focus on Nutrition. Dietary Guidelines for America (DGA) states that the number of calories needed to lose or maintain a healthy weight depends on the amount of activity expended. DGA says to take a positive attitude to enact changes. Instead of focusing on what you can’t eat, play up what you should be eating: whole grains, fruits, vegetables, water, low-fat dairy and lean protein. When these foods constitute the majority of your meals, combined with regular physical activity, you can successfully bring a healthy diet to your life.

Fruit and vegetables were divided first among the winners with enough for everyone. Lana Rush will have the next program. The club meets on Wednesdays with weigh-in at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting at 5:45. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 330-763-1347 or 330-378-2438 or 330-378-2723.
