Esther was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Lakeville, to the late Harry and Della Kiner. She was a graduate of Lakeville High School and had lived in the Lucas area for the past 60 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lucas, where she enjoyed being a member of the church choir. Esther also loved working in her flower garden and doing cross-stitch and crocheting.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Scott) Basquin of Lucas; three grandchildren, Troy Basquin and Kalee Basquin, both of Lucas, and Chad (Amanda) Basquin of Medina; a great-grandson, Andrew Basquin; brother, Paul (Judy) Kiner of Lakeville; sister, Doris Snyder of Shreve; and an uncle, John Kiner of Pinson, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Smith, whom she married August 22, 1951.
Private graveside services were held Sept. 16, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville, with Rev. David Aune officiating.
