Guggisberg Cheese shows that blue isn’t always the most important ribbon

Guggisberg Cheese and Chalet in the Valley will support breast cancer awareness during the months of October and November. Donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation during those months will come from a portion of Guggisberg’s online and phone order sales. Chalet in the Valley will offer a special discount to any diner clad in pink during the month of October.

Guggisberg Cheese, Millersburg, has had no shortage of blue ribbons over the last half decade. The company has received them at the Ohio State Fair, United States Cheese Championship and World Dairy Expo in recognition of their excellence in Swiss cheese production. This fall, Guggisberg Cheese Inc. is turning their attention to another ribbon, one which serves as a symbol of awareness rather than excellence.

Guggisberg Cheese and the Chalet in the Valley will be recognizing breast cancer awareness through October and November in several different ways. Throughout the entire month of October, a portion of Guggisberg Cheese’s online and phone order sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

The Chalet in the Valley restaurant, located across from Guggisberg’s retail store in Millersburg, will offer a discount throughout the entire month of October to anyone visiting the restaurant wearing pink, and also host a Passionately Pink for the Cure day on Nov. 9 in which they will be hosting a raffle, selling items, and offering games where 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

Ryan Ramsey, Guggisberg Cheese’s marketing coordinator, explains the new initiative. “Breast cancer has a profound effect on the lives of those affected, and we have numerous people within our company and the communities we operate in that have felt the effects personally. We are taking measures this fall to show our support to all of those who have felt the repercussions of this terrible illness.”
