The festival is a celebration of the coming holiday season, with trees and festivities to befit this wonderful time of year. Trees, wreaths and centerpieces donated from local businesses will be available for purchase.
“If you’re like me, you love the Christmas season and holiday, so I think people are looking forward to that,” said Rebecca Ragon, marketing and public relations coordinator for Pomerene Hospital. “We try to add in different things so when people walk through they feel that Christmas spirit.”
In addition to the elaborately ornamented trees, the rooms will be awash with the scents of pine and cinnamon and embellished with holiday décor. Christmas music and seasonal refreshments will add to the festive browsing atmosphere.
“With all of the trees lit and the Christmas songs, it’ll get people excited about the holidays coming up,” said Ragon. “Last year a lot of people said to us that they would like to make this a yearly tradition. It’s a nice time to get together with families and come out and look at the trees and wreaths.”
And while browsers feast their eyes on the brilliantly adorned evergreens, they can enter to win a number of raffle prizes. The prizes include gift baskets from local businesses, a gift certificate for a free Thanksgiving turkey, an iPod and iPod dock, a sterling silver snowman pin, a salon pedicure and more.
This year, there will be three special trees whose branches are laden not with ornaments and tinsel, but with presents. The gift trees, which were donated from the hospital, hold gifts for a girl, a boy and a baby. The tree and the gifts come as a package deal, offering Christmas shoppers a unique way to surprise a child, explained Ragon.
In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the festival not only awakens the joy and good cheer of the holiday season, it supports an important community institution at the same time. The proceeds from the gift trees, raffle and decorated trees and wreaths all go to the Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary, the fundraising portion of the hospital. The money raised at this event will go toward purchasing needed medical equipment, said Ragon.
This is just one reason to get a tree from the festival, explained Ragon. Other benefits are that these trees are reasonably priced and already decorated, easing the usual cost and labor involved with getting a tree.
And if spectators wish to prolong the merriment in this festive setting, they can. This is one benefit of having the festival at the Hotel Millersburg, Ragon said. “If somebody wants to make a night of it, they can go look at the trees and then grab a bite to eat afterward.”
After purchase, the trees and wreaths will be available for pickup after the conclusion of the festival on Saturday, from 7-9 p.m., or on Sunday, from 8-11 a.m. The trees and wreaths will be carefully wrapped with the ornaments in place, allowing for safe and easy transportation.
With Christmas trees and presents, family fun and a worthy cause, experience the true meaning of the holiday season at the festival. For details, contact Rebecca Ragon at 330-674-1584, ext. 1763.
