Wilbur was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Loudonville, to the late Glenn and Velma Manchester. He was a 1947 graduate of Loudonville High School and lifelong resident of Loudonville. Wilbur was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and attended Wooster Business College following his military service. He was a 30-year employee of the U.S. Postal Service, working his entire career in the Loudonville Post Office, with 11 years as a letter carrier and 19 years as a clerk. He was a member of Trinity Community Church, American Legion Post 257, the Loudonville Lions Club, and a former member of the JayCees.
Wilbur loved using his metal detector, most particularly on vacations in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He also enjoyed coin collecting and doing home repairs, resulting in his family nickname of “Mr. Fix-It.”
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn E. Miller, whom he married Nov. 18, 1953; daughter, Debi (Jeff) Sargent of Perrysville; two grandchildren, Mike (Terra Britt) Keene and Kristin (George Fisk) Good; two great-grandchildren, Cambrian Keene and Preston Good; and brother, Ronald (Helen) Manchester of Loudonville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Smith.
Services will be held Nov. 22, at 11 a.m., at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial with military honors given by the American Legion and VFW will follow in Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call Nov. 21, from 6-8 p.m.
