Journey to the Inn with local youth organization

This year, the nativity isn’t just for a mantel or yard display. On Dec. 16 and 17, F.R.O.G. Pond, a youth service organization, is producing “A Journey to the Inn,” a walk-through nativity scene that depicts the story of Christmas.

The two-night event, from 6-8 p.m., will be held at Doughty Valley Farm on state Route 557. Josh Miller, F.R.O.G. Pond member and co-director of the play, said, “Originally, we wanted to offer a live nativity scene, but it just grew from there. More people wanted to be involved, and so we decided, ‘Why not just make it a play?’” The walk-through play will feature Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, along with the donkeys, oxen and sheep. Tours will begin approximately every 10 minutes, offering families the opportunity to see an in-person recreation of the nativity.

The play was created, and will be produced by F.R.O.G. Pond. F.R.O.G., or Fully Relying On God, is an organization mentoring to local kids. Wednesday evenings throughout the school year, F.R.O.G. Pond meets at 381 S. Mad Anthony St., the site of the old Save ‘N’ Serve, to pick up children for an evening of being kids, learning about God and His love, and having fun. Kids between the ages of 5-18 are welcome, and they offer a separate program for ages 12 and up.

The tour will conclude with a presentation about F.R.O.G. Pond and its mission, and an opportunity to donate to its cause. Proceeds from the play will go toward funding Bible camp for its members.
