The Construction Technology program at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center was recently honored to be one of only 100 state-wide nominations accepted to participate in the 2011 Ohio Student Achievement Fair, which took place at the Ohio School Boards Convention in Columbus on Nov. 15.
Program teacher John Staats selected the students who traveled with him to Columbus to set up a booth and interact with administrators and school board members attending the convention from throughout the state. The students were especially proud to demonstrate the thermo-imaging camera purchased by the program last year. Students have learned to use the handheld camera, which displays heat as colored infrared output and enables them to understand causes of heat loss and other fire and heat-related issues that should be addressed in building construction.
