Spare Time Lanes keeps the cash rolling

They say bankers never sleep, so after ushering out 2011 with Holmes Bankers Classic League action on Thursday, Dec. 29, Spare Time Lanes rolled into the new year with the same group competing on Thursday, Jan. 5, as the team sponsored by Commercial & Savings Bank rung up both the high team game (1,124) and high team series (3,163), picking up three wins along the way to remain in third place and increase its lead over fourth-place Monitor Bank to 5.5.

First Knox Bank (44 wins) and First Federal (43) remained atop the standings, while a number of individual bowlers made some huge deposits in the scoring column, with four men eclipsing the 700 mark and a pair of women scoring in the 600s.

Jerry Rusk had the most prosperous start to 2012, stringing together a three-game total of 746 to earn high individual series honors, besting T.J. Kays (741) by only five pins, while Jon Markel (717) and Roger Reed (706) joined the 700 Club at the lower end of the spectrum.

But like a spendthrift who squanders his money, Cody Mullet wasted his high individual game score of 288 to finish well behind the leaders, at 659, joining a pair of women in the 600s, as both Susan Dunham and Wanda Mullet posted identical 605 scores to get 2012 rolling.
