However, on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 4-8 p.m., they will be taking orders for a change.
As the East Holmes School District prepares for the upcoming levy vote in March, the Hiland staff is doing their part to help generate interest, get the word out on the importance of the levy and help raise funding for levy promotional material.
To do so, a number of Hiland staff members will be busy at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Walnut Creek on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 4-8 p.m., serving as waiters and waitresses, greeters, bus boys and even clean-up crew.
“It’s mainly a time set aside for locals and anyone else we invite to come in to eat during that time to sit back, relax and have us serve them,” said Holly Troyer, Hiland secretary. “It should be a lot of fun. Can you imagine a bunch of teachers trying to run this thing?”
Seeing them in a new setting is half the fun, and they will most certainly do a wonderful job.
Staff will be present from the moment patrons stop in at Der Dutchman, helping them to find a seat in the banquet room of the dining area. From that moment on it will be service with a smile, and probably plenty of laughter, as they serve throughout the meal, which will include a hot buffet and limited menu items.
No reservations are required for the event. Patrons may simply enter through the banquet room entrance, where they will be seated on a first come, first serve basis.
East Holmes superintendent Joe Edinger will also be on hand to help answer any questions patrons may have concerning the upcoming school levy.
All tips and a percentage of the check received for the evening will go toward supporting the East Holmes School Levy Fund.
“We are inviting everyone to show up, have a great meal and a fun night and support the levy,” said Troyer.
