This may seem hard for some to swallow, but because we have His Spirit, we have all we need already living inside of us. God’s supply is now within us because Jesus is now in us. We are not trying to get from God anymore, but instead are learning to release what has already been given to us through Jesus.
2 Peter 1:3 says “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us by glory and virtue.” Isn’t that an amazing scripture? His power has already given to us the complete supply in our spirits because we have the spirit of Jesus now in us, but we need knowledge of that before we can learn to live in it.
Ephesians 1:3 says “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly places in Christ.” We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing through Christ. We aren’t trying to work to get God to bless us, but rather to realize that we are already blessed because of who lives in us. So many people are praying for God to bless them, not knowing that through Jesus we are already blessed. I now thank God that I am already blessed, not because of who I am, but because His Son now lives in me.
John 1:16 says “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” This verse has really spoken to me lately. All of us who have received Jesus as our Savior now have the fullness of Him living inside our born again spirits. We are complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10). How many of us are walking around with this type of mind-set, that we are already complete through Christ? Is there any lack with Jesus? No, and if He lives inside of us there is no lack within us either. As Jesus is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).
The supply is not because we have done anything to deserve it but because of His unmerited favor/grace toward us. The amplified version of the Bible renders John 1:16 in this manner: “For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].” That makes it so clear. We need to know what we have already been given so we can release what Jesus has already provided for us. His grace and favor is constantly being poured out toward us.
When you realize you have the fullness of Christ living in you, it will cause you to stop begging God to give you something and start thanking Him for what He has already given. We need to transition our mind-sets to thinking upon what has already been provided to us by Jesus. Does that mean we aren’t dependent upon God? Absolutely not. I now am a lot more focused on God and His promises to me through what Jesus has done, and I definitely thank Him much more than I ever did before. I know I am nothing without Him but everything with Him. I am hungry to know more of what He has done so I walk in His fullness and glorify His mighty name.
Before I knew what had been provided, I was always trying to “get” from God. Lord, please heal me, not knowing that healing has already provided for me on the cross and my spirit is as healed as it will ever be. Father, give me peace, not knowing I already have peace living inside of me. I was often dominated by fear, not realizing that God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Now when fear starts attacking me, I go back to the Word and what I know has already been provided. Fear is not from God, so I will not let it rule over me. I have a spirit of power instead.
Next week I will touch more on the incredible supply we already have living inside of us.
