Orrville Railroad Heritage Society will host National Train Day on May 13 at the Historic Orrville Union Depot.
Built in 1868, the depot offers a look back into local railroad history. Step back in time and speak with the depot's engineer, conductor and ticket master. They will explain the many items of railroad history on display. The depot also will have representatives from Operation Lifesaver and Rails to Trails to answer questions about their programs.
As a special treat there will be working model train displays, and the depot's gift shop and museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The grounds will be available for "train watching” all day. Depot admission is free.
The depot is located at 145 Depot St. in downtown Orrville. For more information call 330-683-2426 or follow the organization on Facebook or Twitter @ORHS_UnionDepot. Individuals also can visit their website at www.orrvillerailroad.com
